This piece was such a joy to create. A customer approached me with a beautiful vision: a gentle watercolour portrait of a young girl playing on the beach, captured with soft washes and enhanced with subtle pencil sketching. They wanted something delicate, tender, and timeless — and this was the result.

I worked with a combination of light watercolour layers to create a warm, sun‑kissed atmosphere, then brought in pencil textures to give the woven hat, clothing folds, and sandy ground an illustrative, handcrafted feel. The blend of the two mediums adds both softness and structure, perfectly echoing the peaceful simplicity of childhood moments by the sea.
