“Milo the Cockapoo vs. 120 Coloured Pencils: A Fluffy Showdown” is a detailed coloured pencil portrait created using a combination of Derwent Lightfast, Prismacolor, and Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils. This drawing was completed on Stonehenge Kraft paper, a warm-toned surface that enhances depth, softness, and realism — especially for breeds with dense, textured fur like the Cockapoo.
This Cockapoo portrait showcases my layered coloured pencil technique, building the coat gradually with fine directional strokes, controlled pressure, and subtle tint transitions. The kraft paper provided a natural mid-tone foundation that allowed the highlights to sit beautifully on top, giving the fur a soft, lifelike glow.
The artwork is part of my ongoing pet portrait portfolio, where I specialise in realistic dog drawings, coloured pencil pet portraits, and highly detailed animal artwork. By layering archival-quality pencils on premium paper, I aim to capture each pet’s unique personality and charm in a warm, handcrafted style.
If you’d like a custom pet portrait created in this style, commission information is available on my website — I’d love to bring your pet to life in coloured pencil.
