Horse Colour Portrait

This coloured pencil portrait captures the refined profile and calm presence of an elegant sport horse. Working in coloured pencil allowed me to build the coat slowly, layer by layer, creating soft transitions and depth in the warm browns and subtle highlights around the muzzle and bridle.

I focused on the fine details that give the portrait its realism — the crisp textures of the bridle, the precise contours of the ears, and the delicate shifts of colour through the mane. Coloured pencil has a unique way of showcasing texture, and this piece is a great example of how gentle layering can bring an equine subject to life on paper.

This portrait was a pleasure to create and stands as a celebration of the quiet steadiness that horses embody so naturally.

@Evie Nicholson
Absolutely amazing. Very talented. I came across his work and was blown away. I decided to get a portrait of my older horse, thankfully I did as he sadly passed away very recently and now I have a lovely drawing of him, to cherish the memories. I couldn’t recommend Bobby's work more !! Highly recommend !
