About the Border Terrier Drawing

This hand-drawn coloured pencil portrait captures the distinctive charm and character of a beautiful Border Terrier. Known for their alert expression, intelligent eyes and rugged coats, Border Terriers make wonderful portrait subjects, offering plenty of opportunity to showcase texture, detail and personality.

Created on Stonehenge paper using a combination of Prismacolor Premier, Derwent Lightfast and Caran d’Ache coloured pencils, this artwork was developed through multiple layers of carefully applied colour. Particular attention was paid to the subtle variations within the dark coat, along with the characteristic facial furnishings that give Border Terriers their instantly recognisable appearance.

The warm highlights within the coat and beard were built gradually, allowing the natural texture of the fur to emerge while maintaining a realistic and lifelike finish. Fine pencil strokes were used throughout to create depth and softness, while preserving the dog’s unique expression and individuality.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this portrait was capturing the thoughtful gaze and inquisitive nature that Border Terriers are so well known for. The rich tones and detailed textures combine to create a portrait that celebrates both the beauty of the breed and the personality of a much-loved companion.

Whether commissioned as a treasured keepsake or a lasting memorial, a custom pet portrait offers a timeless way to honour a special dog and preserve cherished memories for years to come.

Labradoodle Portrait
Labradoodle Portrait@Linda Harris
We lost our 13 year old labradoodle in September. She was the love of my husband’s life, so I ordered a bespoke portrait of her for his Christmas present. The whole process was extremely easy. I sent several photos to Robert and he chose one that he could work with. He kept me informed of the process and sent a photo of the finished portrait for approval. He had produced a beautiful picture in coloured pencils that exactly captured our doodles expression. I chose the option to have it framed and it was finished and sent to me in plenty of time for Christmas. Needless to say my husband cried when he opened his present and the portrait now has pride of place in our living room. Thank you Robert for giving us not only a wonderful present, but one that we will cherish forever.

Our son presented us with a beautiful portrait of our Weimaraner completed by Bobby 2 years ago. We were so delighted with it that we commissioned Bobby to do a portrait of our now companion, Amber the Vizsla. Absolutely delighted with the portrait just received, thank you so much Bobby, you are extremely talented. I would recommend Bobby for any portraits you would like, perfect results everyone.
