This piece features a Vizsla dog portrait, celebrated for its warm russet‑copper coat, sleek texture, and elegant lines. I wanted this Vizsla coloured pencil portrait to showcase the gentle folds of the neck, the soft velvety ears, and the subtle tonal shifts that bring out the breed’s unmistakable glow.
Vizslas have a beautifully even coat with delicate highlights and understated shadows. Building up those warm cinnamon and honey tones across the short fur gives the artwork depth, softness, and a true sense of presence.

For this Vizsla portrait, I worked on bright white paper to let the copper and amber hues sing. I began by mapping the long, graceful neck and the characteristic ear shapes, then layered warm browns, ochres, and muted reds to create a smooth, natural finish.
Short‑haired breeds like the Vizsla need clean directional strokes and careful pressure control. Subtle blending and glazing helped refine the coat’s glow, while selective edge work kept the transitions crisp—giving the final Vizsla coloured pencil artwork a calm, refined feel.
