Today, I’m excited to share with you the journey behind my latest acrylic portrait—a charming Beagle commissioned by one of my valued customers. Fresh off the easel, this portrait has me bursting with excitement to unveil it to you through this post.

In the video, you’ll witness my approach to painting the Beagle portrait from start to finish. I begin by laying down the background—a crucial step in ensuring the subject truly pops off the canvas. Then, with careful precision, I map out the outline, ensuring every detail is just right before proceeding.
Unlike my usual layering process, I opted for a different approach this time, tackling one section at a time. I must admit, this deviation from my usual routine proved to be immensely gratifying. Not only did it allow me to dive straight into the detailed work I love, but it also resulted in a finished piece of the same impeccable quality, if not more so.
And let’s face it—who wouldn’t want to revel in the joy of their craft?
The video will walk you through each step of the process, culminating in the completion of the Beagle portrait—a true labor of love. To give the painting the perfect finishing touch, I’ll be framing it in a simple yet elegant floater frame. These frames, devoid of glazing, provide a sleek and modern display option while ensuring the painting remains protected. A final touch of satin varnish adds a subtle sheen, avoiding the overly glossy finish.
As for the medium, I relied on none other than Windsor and Newton professional acrylics. In my experience, these paints are unrivaled in their quality and versatility.
