Once you have submitted your order and the work has commenced, upon completion and your final approval you are obliged to complete full and final payment in a timely manner* failure to pay once approval has been written or communicated via email or text will be addressed via small claims court after a suitable period of time of non-payment from the date of completion, time wasting is taken very seriously. Although I appreciate personal circumstances do change I am running a business and would appreciate if you contacted me if you have any problems with payment so we can work together to provide a solution. Please refer to the ‘What happens if my financial situation or conditions change?’ section of my website for further information.
Graphite portraits can be rectified to the best of my ability, all efforts will be made to get the portrait right for you providing you have supplied the correct photo(s) in a reasonable quality and that the amendments required are within reason. Colour/Water Colour portraits can be altered in colour tones although this is a very difficult procedure and some amendments may not be possible due to the fact that colour pencil/watercolour cannot be erased. However after amendments if we can’t come to an agreement with the differences specified and I’m in full agreement that I have not fulfilled my side of the contract to the best of my ability then I will be happy to re-do the portrait section or in extreme circumstances the full portrait. More seriously if a compromise still cannot be reached between both parties then I won't ask for payment to be made, and you will not be obliged to continue any further with the contract. 3.0 Prior to full payment the client may make minor alterations to the drawing within the guidelines stated in point 2.0. This work will be done free of charge however if the client wishes to have extra items/subjects or make major alterations which are difference to the original contract there will be an extra costs applied, this will be fully agreed by myself and the client before full and final work commences. 4.0 All commissions must be paid for in full before they are despatched. Methods of payment accepted are cheque, bankers draft, direct bank transfer or PayPal. To discuss other payment options please contact me. 5.0 Although I work to a no deposit rule on certain high specification portraits where I may need to purchase bespoke materials such as made to order frames etc. I may ask for a small deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. 6.0 Visitors to my web site can be assured that the protection of privacy and confidentiality are given the highest priority and that all personal information collected is held and used in strict compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Do you treat the portraits? All portrait surfaces are treated with fixative, which creates a protective layer on the surface of the drawing, this prevents smudging. |
Do you mount the portrait? The portrait is first of all cemented to the foam mounting card, this prevents warping when the portrait gets older and keeps a smooth even surface. (optional) |
How do you pack the portrait? On portraits from A4 to A3 the portrait is packed between two sheets of rigid fibreboard, then inserted into a padded sleeve. We find this has been the best packing solution, other firms usually use a tube, where the portrait is rolled up. (This causes the drawing to crease.) |
Are there any other charges besides the cost of the portrait? There are no extra charges to go on top like vat, what you see is what you pay |
What technique do you use to draw the photographs? The most common technique that the artist uses, is hatching and cross hatching, which is just a process of crossing over lines very finely, brushing Is also used in the graphite drawings, this is powdered graphite on a paint brush, which is used to apply a first coat to the portrait, giving the look of smooth skin. |
What pencils do you use to draw the portraits? All graphite pencils used are Dayler Rowney artist pencils and are of the highest quality, powdered graphite is also used. Coloured pencils are prisma colour artist pencils, which are only available in the USA. Rob finds these to be the best quality, they leave an oily surface which is good for blending, Sometimes a derwent coloursoft pencil is used |

Do I get my photographs back/Photo questions All the photographs sent by post are kept in the same condition they arrived in and you will get them back in your parcel. Please make sure you have permission to use the photograph in the drawing as I will not be held responsible for copyrighting purposes. |

How long does it take for my portraits to arrive and how are they sent / cover Once your package has been dispatched it is in most cases sent via Royal Mail, in first class recorded delivery and should only take 1-3 days to arrive, larger parcels like A2 and A2 Framed may be sent standard parcel or any other delivery service, if you are concerned about cover you will receive you must contact me for information on my delivery policy. If you receive your parcel damaged this is the responsibility of the parcel delivery company, first you will have to take a photo of the damages to the portrait then, download or collect a damage form from your local post office, if all else fails with the refund of your portrait, you can send proof of rejection to me then I will redo the portrait and get to you as fast as possible with no other charges applied, this will be done to the same quality as before, there must be no rejections of the second portrait as this will indicate time waiting as you approved the first portrait you know what you will be getting. Lost portraits If after 21 days of your parcel being sent out it hasn't been received and cannot be tracked (each portrait will have unique tracking code) then I will then be able to put out an investigation into the whereabouts of your portrait if then the courier cannot find the portrait and is declared lost then I will then offer you a replacement portrait. (No refunds) You must allow me up to 30 days after me receiving a verdict from the company to redo your portrait, however I will do the very best I can to get it completed right away. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ You MUST inform the courier of the dammage when you sign for the portrait, so please check thourougly before you sign for it, if this isnt reported then the portrait cant be redone or claimed for. |
